Business Cards

Business cards are an ideal way of sharing your contact details with colleagues and potential business partners, and ensuring we remember the contact details of others! They can be handed out at networking events, conferences, meetings, sales calls – or any other time that we unexpectedly meet someone in the street or at a party or restaurant.

Passing out a business card is a much more professional and reliable way of asking someone to get in touch than scribbling our name and numbers on to a scrap of paper – which we all, from time to time, manage to lose!

Standard business cards will have the giver’s name, job title, office address, landline and cell phone number and email address, and possibly the company web site and logo. Sometimes a business card will also feature a line or two of information about our company, or perhaps a slogan; but they tend not to be overloaded with information, making them simpler and more inviting to read.

Once, the average business card featured plain black font against a white background, but as more and more of us carry them, there is a growing need for striking and memorable designs. Companies such as design companies have an even greater need for an interesting design because the card functions as a sample of the organization’s work. Design companies, for example, will almost certainly design their own cards, but the rest of us may choose to hire professionals or use one of the many web sites which allow us to custom design our own.

‘Business’ cards can also feature only personal contact details, and some people give them out to friends and family for the same reasons. With the advent of cell phones and email, many of us have more contact details than the average person could simple memorize, and a business card to be tucked away in a purse or wallet in an ideal memory aid.
